Angel's Flight by Juliet Waldron.

Ms Waldron begins her epic romance, Angel’s Flight, during the American War of Independence at a ball in the Governor’s mansion in New York City, which twenty-four-year-old Angelica Ten Broeck attends. There, the intelligent, outspoken Dutch heiress, meets Jack Carter, who strides in wearing a black suit that stands out among a parade of officers in red uniforms and crisp, white wigs. When she meets this loyalist, of good breeding, who came from England to escape the consequences of a duel, they gaze at each other. ‘Tingling all over she watched his expression of pure masculine delight and, unaccountably, recognition’. Angelica, who supports George Washington, does not have a crystal ball in which she can foresee the important future she will share with Jack, a loyalist, whose self-confidence, and easy manner intrigues her. Preyed on by English Major Armstead, who she loathes and refuses to marry, during her journey on and along the Hudson to her home near Kingston, she...

Ursula's Inheritance by Eileen Charbonneau - Union Sympathiser Flees from Southern State

Ursula's Inheritance by Eileen Charonneau. My 5* Review In 1864, Ursula Buckley, a union sympathiser, flees from her plantation in the South to New York. This is an intriguing novel about danger, false identities, race prejudice, romance, secret marriage, and the heroine’s concealed fear and torment. The major and minor characters and the historical details are interesting. In Ursula’s Inheritance Ms Eileen Charbonneau introduced me to aspects of the American Civil war I was unfamiliar with. I recommend the novel to historical fiction fans. Available from Amazon and other online bookstores.

Never Dance With a Marquess - Regency Romance

Nicholas, Marquess of Pennington returns to England from the Napoleonic war. After a tragedy, before he joined the army, he never intends to marry. He will lead a quiet life managing his estate and writing history books. He is unsuited to family life but this changes when his friend, Max. dies, appointing him as guardian to his young daughter, Arabella and his son, Jeremy, who attends Eton. As though that is not enough to disrupt Nicholas’s life, he promises Max to ensure his daughter, Carrie, has a London season and marries a suitable gentleman. Devoted to her siblings, Carrie will not marry a man, who will refuse permission for her siblings to live with them, if she can wrench them from Nicholas’s custody. When Nicholas first met Carrie, “if had expected a will-o-the-wisp clasping a volume of poetry to her chest he couldn’t have been more wrong. Beneath her dark eyebrows she was making a critical study of him.” Before Max died, he warned Nicholas about his brother Simon, a ...
