She shows her readers the mutants and humans who inhabit New Earth   and star children. After the deaths of the king and queen, Lord Khol, a mutant, usurps the throne and oppresses his human subjects who rebel. Hellion, the heroine, Ariela’s faithful blue lioness understands more than she is given credit for. Her mistress, who suspects Lord Kohl of treachery, is a Commander of the Black Sword Garrison. Ariela suspects the mutants have created an aggressive breed of blood-thirsty killers, but who can stop the new High King of New Earth?   This science fiction/romance novel gripped me from the first page to the last. I admire Ms Schartz ability to create aliens, culture, mythology, and passionate relationships. After Earth was destroyed, humans settled on an alien planet, Kassouk, aka New Earth. Many years later, during King Dragomir’s absence, Terek, a human, is the chairman of the Council of mutant princes fathered by alien Godds. Unable to reproduce the Godds mate with human females. They demand their progeny, mutants, for whom the penalty for having a sexual relationship is death, give them total obedience. When Gayla, a Godd is sent to Kasouk on a scientific mission she meets Terek. From the moment they meet they are attracted to each other and fight against it.   I enjoy finding authors whose novels I have not read before. I discovered Vijaya Schartz SciFi/romance novel Noah's Ark the prequel to The Chronicles of Kassouk and gave it a 5* review on Amazon uk and other online stores. Although I rarely read science fiction, I enjoyed talented Ms Schartz’s novel. Noah’s Ark a spaceship, which left the colony on Mars with hundreds of human beings, who plan to settle on their chosen planet. Everyone on board leaves their secrets behind, including Kristie, the captain and Kostas, a skilled modern warrior, whose duty is to protect everyone. Noah’s Ark is highjacked. Thanks to Kristie’s skill it crash-lands on the planet, Kassouk. In this prequel to the ‘Chronicles of Kasouk” the excellent characterisation and dialogue, the fast pace, the fight to survive despite seemingly overwhelming odds and a forbidden romance, gripped me from the first page to the last.
