Sci/fi Romance Review of Black Jaguar

As a punishment for his affairs with women, 25-year-old Prince Kahuel, aka Black Jaguar is sent to the other end of New Earth in a galleon commanded by his brother, Basilk, on an expedition to find gold, medicinal plants, new varieties of fruit, spices, and animals to breed. Kahuel intends to prove he can be a reliable, responsible member of the Zerker royal family of Yalta. An accomplished warrior he can tolerate almost anything except for the bad weather caused by a typhoon on the voyage across the ocean. Shipwrecked on an unknown shore, unable to contact his family, he lands in a cove with his devoted black jaguar, Diablo, other survivors, and their loyal felines. Basil is dead so Kahuel must take charge. Behind him is a forest of ferns and palm tree fronds alive with animals’ calls. Gentle slopes spread up to a mountain range that peaked on the horizon. Toward the sea, ominous rock formations with strong, jagged spines advanced far into the water on both sides of the cove like bl

Red Leopard Scific/Romance

This science fiction/romance novel gripped me from the first page to the last. I admire Ms Schartz ability to create aliens, culture, mythology, and passionate relationships. After Earth was destroyed, humans settled on an alien planet, Kassouk, aka New Earth. Many years later, during King Dragomir’s absence, Terek, a human, is the chairman of the Council of mutant princes fathered by alien Godds. Unable to reproduce the Godds mate with human females. They demand their progeny, mutants, for whom the penalty for having a sexual relationship is death, give them total obedience. When Gayla, a Godd is sent to Kasouk on a scientific mission she meets Terek. From the moment they meet they are attracted to each other and fight against it. Not only do they fight against it they battle against traitors to survive on New Earth with its variety of natural landmarks and ecosystems. “Polar ice and snow-capped mountains, grassy plains, dark green jungles, tan deserts, icy blue lakes as well as

Thoughts Abut Writing A Novel - Show Don't Tell

If you plan to write a novel, are a new or experienced novelist or someone who likes reading about an author’s thoughts on writing, I hope you will find this brief blog post interesting. To write quality fiction it isn’t enough to have a good idea for a story. Whether we write literary fiction or popular fiction we need to understand how to write effectively and hold our readers’ interest. For the novice and experienced writer there are numerous non-fiction books about How to Write. These include subjects such as creating believable characters, viewpoint and show don’t tell. Show the main character in each scene through what he or she says, does and thinks. This allows the reader to experience a protagonist’s emotions and reactions as though watching television, a film or a play. Since the action arises from the characters, by dramatizing them they can demonstrate essential information and give hints.   Ask yourself what the characters want and feel. You can show through spec

Noah's Ark Scifi/Romance by Vijaya Schartz

I enjoy finding authors whose novels I have not read before. I discovered Vijaya Schartz SciFi/romance novel Noah's Ark the prequel to The Chronicles of Kassouk and gave it a 5* review on Amazon uk and other online stores. Although I rarely read science fiction, I enjoyed talented Ms Schartz’s novel. Noah’s Ark a spaceship, which left the colony on Mars with hundreds of human beings, who plan to settle on their chosen planet. Everyone on board leaves their secrets behind, including Kristie, the captain and Kostas, a skilled modern warrior, whose duty is to protect everyone. Noah’s Ark is highjacked. Thanks to Kristie’s skill it crash-lands on the planet, Kassouk. In this prequel to the ‘Chronicles of Kasouk” the excellent characterisation and dialogue, the fast pace, the fight to survive despite seemingly overwhelming odds and a forbidden romance, gripped me from the first page to the last.

More Thoughts About How to Write a Novel

Thoughts About How to Write a Novel   I can’t remember how many times people have told me they would write a novel if they had time. Serious authors, published or unpublished, find time. It is important to establish a routine. I recommend an achievable schedule, fifteen minutes or more a day, a fixed period at the weekends, or writing a set number of words every day. If you have an idea, don’t dream about writing. Begin with the first sentence and continue to the end. Then revise and edit the drafts until the final one, in the correct format, is ready to submit to an agent or publisher. (Should you be in doubt, pay an editor to streamline it.) If your novel is rejected, don’t be discouraged, either polish your novel or begin a new one. I wrote eight novels before one was accepted. By then, I knew more about how to write. I revised five of my earlier novels, and each year submitted one to the Romantic Novelists Association for a reader’s report. Subsequently each novel was acc
