Terror on Sunshine Boulevard by J.Q.Rose

The senior citizens living in Citrus Ridge Community Centre on Sunshine Boulevard are terrified when there are peculiar deaths. The first person to die was healthy when his neighbour saw him on the previous day. There is no explanation for his mustard-yellow body and the stench emanating from it. When a paramedic touches his corpse, it turns to powder. Were he and subsequent victims of these unnatural deaths poisoned by an unknown substance?                                                                  “The unsolved murders clouded the carefree feeling in the once lively community and the pall of death overshadowed the usual activities of the residents.”   With a cast of interesting characters to keep me entertained while I found it impossible to solve the mystery, Ms Rose’s novel gripped me from the first page to the last. She is to be congratulated on the unforeseen, unique cause of the victims’ deaths. Available from Amazon and other online retailers.

The Countess' Lucky Charm.

My 5* review of The Countess' Lucky Charm by A.M. Westerling. Available from Amazon and online bookstores. Instead of obeying an order to dump Simone, a dirty three-year-old in the River Thames because she is too young to be a pickpocket. Gentry Ted takes her to an orphanage. “You’ve nothing to fear. “Mrs Doughty will look after you if you do as you’re told,” the woman in charge tells her.   The novel swept me from London in 1811 to Montreal in New Calendonia, to an outpost on Stuart Lake then back to England.   The intriguing story has an unusual theme about incompatible characters. Independent-minded Simone, an expert pick-pocket, who experiences many hardships, and Lord Temple Wellington, who mixed with the wrong people, story held my attention from beginning to end. The characterisation is excellent, the dialogue is entertaining, and I enjoyed Ms Westerling’s descriptions of places.   If you enjoy historical romance with an unpredictable twist in the tale, you will enjoy

Phoebe Fisher, A Sparkling Regency Romance by Vicoria Chatham

Rosemary Morris's 5* Review of Phoebe Fisher by Victioria Chatham Phoebe is a well-educated, rich farmer’s daughter unfamiliar with fashionable society. Due to her flaw, despite her large fortune suitors reject her. Andrew, a former naval officer with a secret that will add a twist to the tale, returns to his ruined ancestral home. Courgetes and Proposed Novel

Today, I picked small courgettes from my organic garden, cut them into 1/2inch slices and sprinkled them with salt. Dipped into chickpeaflour batter and deep fried they were delicious served with tomato chutney. The fritters were juicy inside and crisp on the outside. Not good for my waistline, but the occasional naughty treat is a pleasure. One day, I hope to writ
