5 out of 5* Review

The Viscount and the Orphan is an engaging entry into the world of 18th Century romance, one that has more than one unique plot twists.

Gabriel, a breathtakingly handsome Viscount has exploded like a wild thing into adulthood, after spending much of his childhood under the thumb of a strict, avaricious Guardian, his paternal grandfather. Now, Gabriel’s extravagance, womanizing, and other follies have brought him on the edge of ruin. His grandfather decides to force him into marriage with another orphan in his care, a girl who will soon come into her own fortune.

Left to the “tender mercies” of this same scheming guardian, Dorinda is just sixteen, raised in a boarding school for young ladies. She has plenty of education, but she is still immature and inexperienced in the ways of the world. Dorinda is also an avid reader – in secret, naturally – of romances and has many unrealistic expectations of love and marriage.

How will this ill-starred couple ever find their HEA? There are plot twists to come in this period correct tale, all of which kept me turning the pages.
